I’ve been meaning to write about and blog this shoot for quite a while now but for some reason I keep putting it off. It just kept sitting in the to-do basket. If you’ve been on the front page of my website you would have seen this photo as the headline photo. Anyway, no more putting it off, I’ve finally sat down to put it together This will be part 1 – on the field. I will get round to the 2nd part at some point. Read on for more.
Being a professional photographer does give me a few perks like access to locations that otherwise others might not be able to access. Somehow I managed to get myself access to the Gabba, one of the largest sports stadiums in Australia for a fashion photoshoot. A big thank you must go out to my little brother Matt who helped facilitate access and let me make this happen. However, on the day we had access it started to rain and I was worried that the shoot may not be able to go ahead. Luckily the rain decided to clear up briefly so we were able to get access to the playing field.
Along with me for the day was Hair and MUA Kiarn (Kiarn Renae hair and MUA), assistant Dean and model Casey Van Zelst from Dallys Models (Casey Van Zelst on Dallys Models)
Just a pair of shots to set the scene. In the top one you can just see my brother Matt and assistant Dean out on the playing field. It was AFL season at the time so the 50m mark felt like an interesting scene shot to take. Both shot with a Canon 8-15mm f/4L fisheye lens. I took these before the storm started so the blue sky is deceiving.
And now this is what we were here for. Big credit goes to Casey who made the dress herself. It worked brilliantly for the ideas I had in mind. I came away from that day very happy with what we had managed to capture in the short period of time we had available. A bit thank you again to everyone involved who helped this happen.
