Foreward: Chanell volunteered to write a guest blog for me and I have to thank her very much for that. Hopefully this gives an insight as to what it feels like to be in front of the camera rather than from behind which is the perspective from which I write most of my own blog posts. Click through to the post to read what she has kindly written. Thanks, Tim.
Have you ever stared nervously and anxiously in to a mirror and picked to pieces almost every flaw you simply may or may not have, ever wanted to diminish that – you’re on stage, and the audience is scrutinizing your every step – self-conscious feeling? Being self-conscious can limit our ability to enjoy the moment and express ourselves fully. But this is, well was, my world. I read all the self-help books money could buy, I tried to work on accepting myself, tried to stop agreeing with my negative thoughts & remind myself every day that my flaws made me who I was. Let me yell from the rooftops (like a crazy white girl) whom just found out who gossip girl was… Nothing and I mean – NOTHING- made me feel that humble peace and total adoration feeling for myself than when Timothy Swinson sends me an image after a shoot.
“He listened to me” my intrapersonal perception weeps! That amazing, love for myself feeling. Besides his intuition, Timothy Swinson is inspired by work from famous photographers from around the world and he managed to capture what I had always doubted; beauty. I looked beautiful… and happy… and BEAUTIFUL. That moment is unexplainable and I just simply cannot craft such a sentence to explain how extremely happy and confident I have become with myself just by Tim’s photographs. It’s almost like capturing a moment that I can seriously focus on and learn to accept myself just the way I am.
I believe empathy for women is a source of creative inspiration for him. I’m still riding high on the wave of amazingness that has been the past 9 months of my life. Often, his ideas unfold in the moment, as he feels for my character and my mood on the day, which of course is sometimes fluctuant but he builds an understanding of how to best photograph me, every time. I couldn’t ask for a better photographer and I couldn’t be more blessed with the more confidient and happier person I am today. Timothy Swinson has an amazing, clean, sophisticated perspective through his camera lens and is really easy going, personable and completely at ease behind a camera. His calm demeanor seems to always put me in a good mood and make me feel relaxed, comfortable and beautiful. Would I recommend him? More than I recommend Mcflurries on a somewhat par day, ABSOLUTELY.
